Manga Ent. loses licenses; no chance for Conan-dubbed Lupin
In the latest ANNCast podcast from Anime News Network, Steve Sargent of Manga Entertainment spills the beans about several titles Manga Ent. no longer holds the licenses for in the US. These include:
- Amon Saga
- Black Jack
- Bounty Dog
- The Castle of Cagliostro
- Mad Bull 34
- Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth
- Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
- Perfect Blue
So rush out and buy your copies. Bigger titles like the Eva movies are likely to be picked up by someone else, but others like Mad Bull 34 are more likely to fall into licensing limbo.
As for some good news, Sargent also announced online streaming of the entire television series of Gurren Lagann on manga.com, YouTube and coming soon on Hulu.
Sargent is responsible for marketing promotions for several titles, programming Syfy and Chiller’s Ani-Monday blocks and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brian skits.
