Sony is releasing full anime series on Crackle
Crackle.com is an online video platform owned by Sony and has a bunch of movies and television shows, mainly made or owned by the company. Besides having shows like Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles and movies like La Bamba, it has also shown anime including Voltron, Blood+, and the 2004 Astro Boy remake. Recently, Crackle debuted in the United States two anime that aired in foreign markets via the Sony-owned Animax channels: Samurai X, their own English-language dub of the Rurouni Kenshin anime tv series, and the dub of romantic comedy Nodame Cantabile’s first season.
On Monday, Crackle has begun streaming all 26 episodes of 2006′s Humanoid Monster Bem in English. On their Facebook page, the site announced Bem is the start of a plan to release one full-run anime series each week until the end of 2010. A remake of a 1960s anime, Bem is a horror-action series about three monsters who protect a human city from monsters in the belief that if they do good deeds, they will become human. The series, animated by Studio Comet, has aired on the various Animax platforms.
