“Fractale” Internet simulcast cancelled until piracy is dead

Last week, Funimation began streaming a new anime series from Japan called Fractale on their website and at partner sites Hulu and YouTube. The sci-fi show, about a boy looking to find a mysterious girl and learn more about the secret of the collapsing “Fractale System”, is airing on Fuji TV’s noitaminA block and would be streamed in the U.S. one hour after its episodes air in Japan. That was the plan until Wednesday night when Funimation informed ANN they will stop simulcasting the series until they have eliminated every single illegal stream of the series on the Internet, as per the orders of the Japanese copyright holders. This includes streaming sites, file-sharing networks, and file servers, as well as the raw, un-subtitled video files that can only come from Japan. We wish Funimation the best as they try the impossible without the aid of EMP satellites.

As of this posting, the first episode of the 11-episode series still remains online in the United States at the sites linked above.
